Narrative

Auburn University makes available to students and the public current academic calendars, grading policies, cost of attendance, and refund policies. Auburn uses multiple methods to communicate this information to students and the public. The two primary methods for disseminating public information are the Auburn University Bulletin and the university’s official website.

Current Academic Calendars

Auburn’s current academic calendars are made available to students and the public in the following locations:

Auburn University Bulletin (<bulletin.auburn.edu>): The current academic calendars through Spring 2023 are posted to the web at <http://www.auburn.edu/main/auweb_calendar.php>. Current academic calendars are also published in the Bulletin. A student or member of the public can navigate to this page from the home page for the Bulletin by selecting the options General Information > Auburn University Calendar 2021-2022 or by entering “calendar” into the Search Bulletin dialog box located on all pages. Users may also save a print-format version of the Bulletin. Auburn's Bulletin is updated and published following the conclusion of each academic year, prior to the commencement of orientation sessions for the incoming freshman class.

Auburn University website: Students and the public may also access current academic calendars by visiting the main website for the University and selecting the menu bar for Academic Calendar, which, in the current design, appears on the home page just below a rotating menu of campus photographs. Alternatively, a user who selects the navigation menu at the top right of the university website can find “Academic Calendar” from the menu under “Academics.”

Grading Policies

Auburn’s grading policies for undergraduate students are made available to students and the public in the following locations:

Auburn University Bulletin (<bulletin.auburn.edu>): Grading policies affecting undergraduate students are posted to the web in the online version of the Bulletin, under Academic Policies, Information, and Requirements. Also posted is Auburn's grade adjustment policy for undergraduate students. A student or member of the public can navigate to these pages from the home page for the Bulletin by selecting Policies > Academic Policies, Information, and Requirements > Grade Adjustment or by entering “grades” or “grading policy” into the Search Bulletin dialog box located on all pages of the online Bulletin. Users may also save a print-format version of the Bulletin.

Auburn University’s Policy Database (<sites.auburn.edu/admin/universitypolicies/>): The Office of the General Counsel maintains a web-based repository of official University policy documents that have been adopted in accordance with Auburn University’s Policy on Policies. While designed primarily for use by university faculty and employees, the policy database is open to any student or member of the public. The undergraduate grade adjustment policy is also housed on this site.

Auburn’s grading policies affecting postbaccalaureate students are made available to students and the public in the following locations:

Auburn University Bulletin (<bulletin.auburn.edu>): Grading policies for graduate students are posted to the web in the online version of the Bulletin, under a heading for Academic Progress. A student or member of the public can navigate to this page from the home page for the Bulletin by selecting Graduate School > Academic Progress or by entering “grades” or “grading policy” into the Search Bulletin dialog box located on all pages. As noted above, users may also save a print-format version of the Bulletin. The academic progress policy for graduate students also is housed in the University's policy database, described previously. Special grade-related scholastic requirements apply to students enrolled in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program in the College of Veterinary Medicine. These requirements are also made available to students and the public in the Bulletin, both on the web and in printable PDF format. A student or member of the public can navigate to these pages from the home page for the Bulletin by selecting Graduate School > Academic Progress.

Cost of Attendance: Tuition, Mandatory Fees, and Other Fees

Auburn makes available to students and the public current information on its tuition, mandatory fees, and other fees that students may incur at the following locations:

Auburn University Bulletin (<bulletin.auburn.edu>): Information on basic charges is printed in the online version of the Bulletin, under a heading for financial information. A student or member of the public can navigate to this page from the home page for the Bulletin by selecting the options General Information > Financial Information > Basic Charges or by entering “tuition” or “fees” into the Search Bulletin dialog box located on all pages. In the print-format PDF version of the Bulletin, these basic charges appear on pages 82-84.

Auburn University’s website (<www.auburn.edu>): Students and the public may access fuller financial information, including estimated total cost of attendance, by visiting the website for the university and navigating to “Admissions” and selecting “Cost, Financial Aid and Scholarships” This site brings together information on cost of attendance, scholarships, and financial aid. In addition, in keeping with federal requirements, this page includes links to an interactive cost calculator for incoming first-year undergraduate students and a separate calculator for incoming undergraduate transfer students. The calculators allow any prospective student to enter scholastic, residency, and financial information about themselves and then receive an estimate of their likely total cost of attendance, minus any scholarships or grants for which they are likely to be eligible. The page also provides definitions of terms that can confuse prospective college students, such as the term “cost of attendance” itself. Because some tuition and fee rates are differentiated by the student's college or program of enrollment, Auburn also posts a detailed tuition calculator that allows students to enter information about their residency, level, and intended college to see a customized report of tuition and fees for a student with those attributes.

Refund Policies

Auburn makes available to students and the public current information on its refund policies in the following locations:

Auburn University Bulletin (<bulletin.auburn.edu>): The policy on resignations and refunds is posted to the web in the online version of the Bulletin under the heading for Financial Information. A student or member of the public can navigate to this page from the home page for the Bulletin by selecting the options General Information > Financial Information > Other Fees and Charges or by entering “refunds” into the Search Bulletin dialog box located on all pages. In the print-format PDF version of the Bulletin, these policies appear on pages 85-86.

As described above, Auburn maintains a web-based policy repository. The University’s Withdrawal and Resignation Policy is also housed on this site.
